MUSICALS

Broadway show tunes are imbed in the depths of my heart. Their whimsical way of teaching about life and all its lessons is not only comforting but also wrought with passion. How well do I understand the overflowing giddiness  in these lyrics: "I'm as corny as Kansas in August! I am as normal as blueberry pie! No more a smart little girl with no heart; I have found me a wonderful guy!" (South Pacific) Or the poignant drive to reach beyond the stagnant limits: "Something has changed within me. Something is not the same I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game Too late for second-guessing. Too late to go back to sleep. It's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap! It's time to try defying gravity. I think I'll try defying gravity And you can't pull me down! (Wicked)

I have been brought up on show tunes. Both of my parents were involved in Musical Theatre in high school and shared the love with us kids. Now we are involved each Summer in a local theatre and not only is it the thrill of a lifetime, it bonds us deeply as a family.
